BeefEx Conference – Bringing the grain fed beef supply chain together

BeefEx Conference is back in 2024, celebrating the Australian Grain Fed Beef industry.

ONE NSW feedlot has two new business partnerships thanks to attending the grain fed beef industry’s premier conference BeefEx.

For Angora Feedlot owner and operators Angela and Jeremy Cummins, these industry relationships continued to deliver value for their 1000-head feedlot, long after they returned home to Gunnedah.

BeefEx 2022 was their first ALFA conference and as new entrants to the industry, they were keen to learn, meet people and enjoy the rare opportunity to spend a few days away.

“The biggest benefit for us was the networking, because we weren’t an existing business, we didn’t have existing connections with suppliers,” Angela said.

“We met two people at the conference who we have since done business deals with; if we didn’t go to BeefEx we wouldn’t have done those deals.

Angela Cummins from Angora Feedlot sees great value in smaller lot feeders attending.

“It was a cost for us to go - get away from the feedlot - but all the networks we now have thanks to the people we met, plus the technical things we learnt, we know we have recouped those costs even though it might be difficult to put an actual dollar on the value.”

BeefEx is back bigger and better than ever this year, running from October 15-17 at the RNA Brisbane.

More than 800 delegates and 80 exhibitors are expected from right across the cattle supply chain, plus international guests.

Conference delegates range from lot feeders, right across the supply chain to meat wholesalers and chefs.

ALFA President Barb Madden said BeefEx is not only a celebration of grain fed beef, it is a learning, networking and social event.

“We know getting away from the feedlot can be tough, that’s why we pack as much punch into the BeefEx program as possible, ensuring value for all attendees” she said.

“Being a demanding and fast paced sector, it’s important to us that we provide people with a chance to learn about what’s on the horizon, facilitate connections and most importantly – put on a good show for everyone to enjoy themselves.”

ALFA President Barb Madden is expecting record numbers to converge on BeefEx 2024
